Dhaba style Channa Masala

INGREDIENTS:

Channa - 1 cup

Onion - 1

Garlic - 7

Ginger - 1 big piece

Green chill - 2

Tomato puree - 1 tbspn

Yoghurt/Buttermilk - 1/2 cup

Chilly powder - 1 tspn

Coriander powder - 3 1/2 tspn

Turmeric powder - 1/2 tspn

Garam Masala - 1 tspn

Cumin seeds - 1/2 tspn

Asafoetida - a pinch

Cardamom - 1

Cloves - 3

Cinnamon stick - 1

Soda bi carbonate - 1/4 tspn

Tea bag - 1

Coriander leaves - 1 handful

Salt - to taste


Ready😃

Add one tea bag, 1 cinnamon stick, 1 cardamom and 3 cloves.

Add soda bicarbonate and a little salt.

Add necessary water and pressure cook.

Ready with the other ingredients.

Add the coriander powder into the mixer.

Add the other spices like chilly powder, turmeric powder, garam masala and cumin seeds. Run the powder in the mixer to combine all the spices.

Slit the green chilly and ginger cut lengthwise. Also crush the ginger and garlic into paste and keep it aside.

Heat oil in a pan.

Add a pinch of asafoetida and then onion cut fine and saute.

To the pressure cooked hot channa, add the powders and mix well.

Mix the powders well with the cooked channa and keep it aside.

Saute until it turns golden brown.

Add 1 tbspn ghee to the Channa and mix well.

Add beaten curd (butter milk) to it and keep stirring for 3-4 minutes.

Add ginger garlic paste and tomato puree and mix well.

Add half cup water and allow it to boil.

Add the channa to it now. Salt can be added if necessary,

Add the slit chilly and ginger now and allow it to boil on low flame for 10-15 minutes.

Add necessary coriander leaves and mix it well.

Dhaba style channa masala ready😎😎

Delicious.. goes well with chapathi, porotta, even rice... try it out.😃😃
